Sikament®-340

Superplasticizer and high water reducer Retarder

Sikament® 340 is a liquid superplasticizer retarder admixture, composed of a mixture of polymers sulfonates, formulated to extend the workability of concrete. Recommended for summer climate. Its composition is chloride free, so Sikament® 340 is completely inoffensive to the reinforcement steel bars.

Sikament® 340 allows upto 15-20% water reduction. It also improves the properties of fresh and hardened concrete: On fresh concrete:
  • Considerable improvement of workability
  • More homogeneous mix of components when mixing
  • Reduction in the water/cement ratio, being workability equal
On hardened concrete:
  • Increase of compressive strength
  • Reduction in the shrinkage and fluage effect
  • Long lasting durability

Usage

Sikament® 340 can be used with all types of standard and high grade concrete, and where needed special properties of:
  • High performance concrete
  • High compressive strength
  • Low permeability values
  • High durability against natural aggressive agent
It is quite indicated in the high performance ready mix industry.

Shelf life

12 months from date of production if stored properly in undamaged and unopened original sealed packing

Storage conditions

Store in dry conditions. Protect from sun direct exposure and frost, at temperatures between +5 and + 35°C. If exposed to frost, it can be rehomogenised. Heat to +30°C and mix thoroughly.

Application

Application Information

Dispensing

  • Sikament®-340 is added to the gauging water or can be added separately on the freshly mixed concrete
  • When added on the concrete, further mixing should take place for at least three minutes.

Compatibility

Sikament® 340 can be used together with other Sika concrete admixtures, as long as they are added in later phase. Sikament® 340 is compatible with all kinds of cement responding to the UNI standards.
Consumption

Recommended dosage

0.5 to 3 % of cement weight, depending on the requested performance of the concrete.
